This is an amazing nail-polish hack that allows you to create your own customised shade of nail polish. It also makes use of that old, shattered eye shadow sitting at the bottom of your bathroom makeup stash…
You’ll need:
- A clear top coat
- Tweezers or a teaspoon
- Bright-coloured eye shadow (crushed)
1. Crush your eye shadow into a ‘loose powder‘ using the back of a teaspoon. Make sure that the eye shadow is fine and even in texture so it can mix into your top-coat polish quite easily.
Now this is where it gets messy…
2. Using a teaspoon or old tweezers, gather your crushed eye shadow and drop it into your clear nail polish. The pigments will probably float along the surface of your polish but this is okay.

3. Carry on putting eye shadow into the polish until the powder completely covers the bottom of the bottle. Once it has, put the cap back on and shake.
There you go – your own DIY nail-polish shade!
